The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney is
charged with prosecuting all felony violations of the Virginia Criminal Code occurring
in Buchanan County. Accordingly, this website was created as a community portal,
both to familiarize the public with the important work we do and to provide quick
access to our regular news and information.

The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney has established a Hotline to allow members of the public to report suspected crimes. All messages are checked regularly on weekdays. Reports can be made in either a confidential or an anonymous manner.
Callers may report any type of crime (drugs, theft, violence, fraud, sexual assault) against any person, company, organization or governmental agency.
Our office will forward any information from the Hotline to the appropriate investigators and prosecute accordingly.
T. Luke Fleming, graduate of Appalachian School of Law
Thomas Luke Fleming is a local boy who attended Big Rock elementary and middle school. He has just graduated from the Appalachian School of Law this May of 2011. He was the valedictorian of his law school class. Luke spent all three years of law school working in my office. By his third year, he received his 3L Practitioner Certificate and was permitted to handle some of our misdemeanor matters in General District Court under the supervision of myself and the other attorneys in the office. We are very proud of Luke and wish to honor the hard work he put in at our office and within his law school career. Best of Luck Luke as you move into your career!
